Tools needed to complete this tutorial:

Corel XI

A graphic of your choice.
The graphic used for this tutorial is used according to Group Permission.

FM Tile Tools

  1. Open your graphic, edit, copy.

  2. Right click in the layer palette, promote background layer.

  3. Click on your selection tool, rectangle selected and use a feather setting of 25.

  4. Draw a rectangle around a focal point of your graphic.

  5. Selections, invert.

  6. Effects, Distortion Effects, Wind and use a setting of 100, from left.

  7. Selections, selection none.

  8. Image, canvas size and use the following settings:

    • Width:      1250
    • Height:      Total height of your graphic
    • Placement:      Left middle arrow

  9. Click on your selection tool, custom selection and use the following settings:-

    • Top:      0
    • Left:      15 less than the total width of the actual graphic
    • Right:      1250
    • Bottom:      Total length of your graphic.

  10. Selections, invert.

  11. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the following settings:-

    • Vertical & Horizontal:      5
    • Opacity:      45
    • Blur:      10
    • Color:      Black
    • Shadow on new layer:      Unchecked.

  12. Click on your selection tool again, custom selection.

  13. Change the left setting to 10 pixels more than before.

  14. Selections, invert.

  15. Add the same drop shadow.

  16. Deselect.

  17. Add a new raster layer and drag it to the bottom of your layer palette.

  18. Selections, Select all.

  19. Edit, paste into selection.

  20. Deselect.

  21. Effects, Distortion Effects, Wind and use the same settings as before.

  22. Effects, Distortion Effects, Wind but change your direction to right.

  23. Lower the opacity of this layer to about 50%.

  24. Add a new layer and drag it to the top of your layer palette.

  25. Add your watermark.

  26. Merge all, flatten.

  27. Effects, Plugins, FM Tile tools, Seamless tiling and use the following settings:-

    • Border Width:      0.148
    • Stretch Control:      0.090
    • Vertical:      Checked.
