WET PAINT BACKGROUND



This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely co-incidental. Please do not pull it apart and claim it as your own. Do not copy, translate or place on another site without my written permission. You are more than welcome to use this tutorial in a group setting, but please link to this page only.


Tools needed to complete this tutorial:

Paint Shop Pro V9

FU Distortion Filters

FM Tile Tools

A graphic of your choice.

The graphic I have used is used as per the TOU of Suzanne Gyseman

A mask of your chosing.



  1. Open your graphic and resize so that it’s no wider than 350 pixels.

  2. Edit, copy.

  3. In your layer palette, right click and promote background layer.

  4. Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load mask from disk and find a mask that you’d like to use.

  5. Layers, Merge, merge group.

  6. Image, Resize and resize by 90%, all layers Unchecked.

  7. Image, Canvas size and use the following settings:-

    • Width:      1024
    • Height:      Total height of your graphic
    • Placement:      Left middle arrow.

  8. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow and use the following settings:-

    • Vertical:      1
    • Horizontal:      8
    • Opacity:      65
    • Blur:      10
    • Color:      Black
    • Shadow on new layer:      Unchecked

  9. Add a new raster layer and drag it to the bottom of your layer palette.

  10. Selections, select all.

  11. Edit, paste into selection.

  12. Deselect.

  13. Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur and use a setting of 10.

  14. Effects, Plugins, Filters Unlimited, Distortion Filters, Smelter 1 and use an intensity setting of 135.

  15. Lower the opacity of this layer to one that will be easily read when text is added.

  16. Effects, Plugins, FM Tile Tools, Seamless Tiling and use the following settings:-

    • Border Width:      0.117
    • Stretch Control:      0.090
    • Vertical:      Checked

  17. Add a new layer and drag it to the top of the layer palette.

  18. Add your watermark.

  19. Merge all flatten.

  20. You can now put it all together in Letter Creator, a product of IncrediMail.
