Tools needed to complete this tutorial:
Corel X
A graphic of your choice.
The artwork used in this tutorial is used as per the TOU of Metal & Magic
VM Texture and VM Stylize
Fm tile Tools
20/20
Open your graphic and resize if necessary.
Windows, duplicate, and minimize one of the copies for now.
BACKGROUND
Effects, plugins, VM Texture, Tiles a GoGo and use the following settings:-
Width: 82
Height: 39
Randomat 1: 207
Randomat 2 163
Effects, plugins, VM Stylize, Motion Trail and use the following settings:-
Start: 52
Transition: 141
Frequency: 9
Phase: 67
Amplitude: 15
Red, Green and Blue: 255
In your layer palette, duplicate the background layer.
Image, mirror and lower the opacity on this layer to 50%.
Merge all, flatten.
Effects, plugins, FM Tile tools, Satuation Emboss and use the default settings.
Image, rotate, Rotate clockwise 90 degrees.
Adjust, Sharpness, sharpen.
Edit, repeat Sharpen.
Save this as your background in JPEG format.
The reason I save the background is just in case my PSP closes down on me.
Minimize for now and open the other image for framing.
FRAMING
Chose a light and dark colour from your graphic, making sure the dark colour is not at the edge of the graphic.
Image, add border and add a 4 pixel symmetrical border using the darkest colour first.
Select the border with your magic wand.
Effects, 3D effects, inner bevel and use the following settings:-
Bevel: Pie Shape
Width: 8
Smoothness: 15
Depth: 4
Ambience: 0
Shininess: 0
Color: White
Angle: 251
Intensity: 45
Elevation: 35
Effects, 3D Effects, drop shadow and use the following settings:-
Vertical & Horizontal: 2
Opacity: 45
Blur: 12
Color: Black
Repeat the drop shadow changing your Vertical and Horizontal to minus 2.
Selections, select none.
Image, add border, symmetrical Unchecked.
Color: The lighter of the two we chose.
Top and left: 15
Bottom and Right: 0
Select the border with your magic wand.
Effects, 3D Effects, inner bevel and use the same settings as before.
Selections, select none.
Image, add border :
Top and left: 0
Bottom and Right: 15
Leave color.
Select with your magic wand.
In your colour palette, change colour to pattern and chose the background pattern that we made earlier.
Flood fill the border.
Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel and use the same settings as before.
Selections, select none.
Image, add border, change the colour to the dark one, all settings stay the same, click ok.
Chose the border with your magic wand.
Effects, 3D effects, inner bevel and use the Pillow preset.
Selections, select none.
Image, add border, make sure symmetrical is now checked and add a 4 pixel border using the darker colour again.
Select the border with the magic wand.
Effects, 3D Effects, inner bevel and use the inner bevel from step 15.
Selections, select none.
Image, add border and add a 20 pixel symmetrical border in the lighter colour.
Select the border with your magic wand and flood fill this with the pattern that we made earlier.
Selections. Selection none.
Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using the darker colour.
Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using the lighter colour.
Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using the darker colour.
Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using the lighter colour.
Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using the darker colour.
Selections, select all.
Selections, modify, contract by 10. Selections, invert.
Effects, 3D Effects, inner bevel using the same settings as before.
Selections, select none.
Image, resize to a size you like your graphics to be.
Add your watermark on a new layer.
Merge all, flatten.
Adjust, Sharpness, sharpen. Save as a jpeg.
FINISHING THE BACKGROUND
Open your background image in 20/20.
Image, muted background and move the slider down to around the 50% mark.
Save.
Open the saved background in PSP again.
Effects, FM Tile tools, Blend Emboss and use the default settings.
Save and you can now take it into Letter Creator.
