Tools needed to complete this tutorial:-
Paint Shop Pro V8
Eye Candy 3.0
A tube of your choice.
The tube I have used for this tutorial is used with permission from McHooii, who very graciously has allowed me to use her wonderful tubes in my tutorials and stationery creations.
If you have everything you need, lets begin.
- Open your tube and using your eye dropper chose two complimenting colours from your tube.
- Minimize the tube for now.
- Open a 1024 x 750 transparent image.
- Click on your selection tool, Rectangle selection, custom selection and use the following settings:-
- Top: 0
- Left: 25
- Right: 100
- Bottom: 750
- Add a new raster layer and flood fill with one of the colours you chose earlier.
- Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 3.0, Squint and use a setting of 20.
- Deselect.
- Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 3.0, Swirl and use the following settings:-
- Whirlpool Spacing: 30
- Smear Length: 15
- Twist: 70
- Streak Detail: 40
- Warp & Smooth: Checked.
- In your layer palette, click on raster 1, the bottom layer.
- Flood fill with your 2nd colour choice and apply the same swirl settings as above. Lower the opacity of this layer so that text will be easily red. (Make a note of the opacity level as you will need it for when you make the tag).
- Go back to your tube and right click on the dark blue top border, edit copy.
- Back to our working image, and right click on the dark blue top border, edit, paste as new layer.
- Layers, arrange, bring to top.
- With your mover tool, move the tube over so that it’s sitting near the top of the swirled line that we made.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and apply the following:-
- Vertical: -7 (minus)
- Horizontal: 14
- Opacity: 45
- Blur: 15
- Color: Black
- Shadow on new layer: Unchecked.
- Add a new layer.
- Add your watermark. Merge all flatten.
- File, export, JPEG optimizer.

- Open a 300 x 300 transparent image.
- Click on your selection tool, rectangle shape, custom selection and use the following settings:-
- Top: 20
- Left: 25
- Right: 100
- Bottom: 280
- Flood fill with the same colour that you used in your stationery.
- Effects, Eye Candy, 3.0, Squint and use the same settings as before.
- Deselect.
- Effects, Eye Candy 3.0, Swirl and use the same settings as before.
- Duplicate this layer. Image, mirror.
- Copy and paste your tube as a new layer. Resize so that it fits nicely without taking up all the swirled line.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the same settings as before.
- Click on your text tool, set to floating. Find a text that you like that is reasonably thick – I have used Trendy. Set your foregound to null and background to any color.
- Type your name moving down the text box.
- Selections, defloat and hit the delete key. Leave all selected.
- Selections, invert.
- In your layer palette, make sure that copy of Raster 1 is the active layer and hit the delete key again.
- Deselect.
- With your mover tool, move your name so that it is close to our tubed image.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the same settings as before.
- Merge visible.
- Ctrl + C.
- Ctrl + V to get rid of the excessive transparency. Close the original one we were working on.
- Add a new layer and drag it to the bottom in your layer palette.
- Flood fill with your 2nd colour choice and apply the same swirl settings as before. Lower the opacity to you liking.
- Merge all, flatten.
