TOPOGRAPHY SIDE BORDER

Simple Filters

  1. Open your graphic and resize so that it’s no wider than 350 pixels.

  2. Shift + D twice to duplicate the image. Close the original and minimize one of the copies for now.

    BACKGROUND

  3. Effects, Plugins, Simple, Quicktile.

  4. Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur and use a setting of 35.

  5. Effects, Artistic Effects, Topography and use the following settings:-

    • Width:      100
    • Density:       80
    • Angle:      45
    • Color:      White

  6. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise and a setting of 25% with Gaussian and monochrome checked.

  7. Effects, Artistic Effects, Topography and use the same settings as before.

  8. Effects, Image Effects, Seamless tiling and use the following settings:-

    • Corner checked
    • Bidirectional checked.
    • Curved checked.

  9. Save as a jpeg for your background and minimize for now.

    SIDE IMAGE

  10. Right click in your layer palette and promote background layer.

  11. Right click again and duplicate.

  12. Image, resize and resize by 75%, all layers UNchecked.

  13. Make sure that raster 1 is now the active layer.

  14. Effects, Distortion Effects, Pixelate and use the following settings:-

    • Block width & height:      35
    • Symmetric checked.

  15. Effects, Artistic Effects, Topography and use the same settings as before.

  16. Click on your selection tool set to rectangle.

  17. Click on the custom settings and use the following:-

    • Top:      0
    • Left:      300
    • Right:      350
    • Bottom:      Total length of your graphic.

  18. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise and use the same settings as before.

  19. Selections, invert.

  20. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the following settings:-

    • Vertical:       0
    • Horizontal:      16
    • Opacity:       45
    • Blur:      15
    • Color:      Black

  21. Deselect.

  22. Highlight the top layer in your layer palette.

  23. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow and use the following settings:-

    • Vertical & Horizontal:      8
    • Opacity:       45
    • Blur:      15
    • Color:      Black
    • Shadow on new layer:      Unchecked.

  24. Repeat the drop shadow changing your vertical and horizontal to –8 (minus)

  25. Merge visible.

  26. Layers, Load/Save Mask and using your dropdown list find the aushmask100. Make sure that Invert Transparency is checked.

  27. Layers, Merge, Merge group.

  28. Image, Canvas size and use the following settings:-

    • Width:      1024
    • Height:      Height of your graphic
    • Placement:      Left middle arrow.

  29. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the following settings:-

    • Vertical:       0
    • Horizontal:      8
    • Opacity:       45
    • Blur:      8
    • Color:      Black
    • Shadow on new layer:      Unchecked

  30. Add a new layer and drag it to the bottom.

  31. In your color palette, change your foreground to pattern and find the background pattern that we made ealirer.

  32. Flood fill.

  33. Lower the opacity of this layer to one that text can be easily read on.

  34. Add a new layer and drag it to the top.

  35. Add your watermark.

  36. Merge all, flatten.

  37. Effects, Plugins, FM Tile tools, Seamless Tile and use the following settings:-

    • Border Width:      0.102
    • Stretch Control:      0.090
    • Vertical checked.
