Paint Shop Pro Version 9
A graphic of your choice
The graphic used for this tutorial is used with permission from the very talented
Barbara Haviland.
FRAME
- Open your graphic and resize so that it’s no longer than 350 pixels.
- Window, duplicate and minimize for now.
- Edit, copy.
- Using your eyedropper select a foreground and background colour from your graphic.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your background colour.
- Image, add border and add a 15 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Using your magic wand, select the 15 pixel border.
- Edit, paste into selection.
- Effects, Art Media Effects, Pencil and use the following settings:-
- Luminance: -159 (minus)
- Blur: 22
- Color: The lighter of the two you chose.
- Intensity: 55
- Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your background colour.
- Image, add border and add a 15 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Using your magic wand, select the 15 pixel border.
- Edit, paste into selection.
- Effects, Reflection Effects, Pattern and use the following settings:-
IMAGE AREA
- Horizontal offset: 86
- Vertical offset: 49
- Rotation angle: 95
- Scale factor: 32
PATTERN SETTINGS
- Number of columns: 19
- Number of rows: 19
- Horizontal shift: -77 (minus)
- Vertical shift: -26 (minus)
- Effects, 3D effects, Inner Bevel and use the following settings:-
- Pie Bevel
- Width: 4
- Smoothness: 0
- Depth: 2
- Ambience: 0
- Shininess: 2
- Color: White
- Angle: 315
- Intensity: 50
- Elevation: 30
- Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your background colour.
- Image, add border and add a 30 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Using your magic wand, select the 30 pixel border.
- Edit, paste into selection.
- Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur and use a setting of 10.
- Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your background colour.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using your background colour.
- Selections, select all.
- Selections, modify, contract, and contract by 8.
- Selections, invert.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel and use the same settings as before.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the following settings:-
- Vertical & Horizontal: 5
- Opacity: 85
- Blur: 25
- Color: Black
- Repeat the drop shadow changing the vertical & horizontal to –5 (minus)
- Deselect.
- Image, resize and resize to a level you like for stationery.
- Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.
- Add a new layer for your watermark and then merge all, flatten.
BACKGROUND
- Open the duplicated image.
- Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur and use a setting of 10.
- Click on your selection tool set to rectangle and draw a rectangle shape in the middle of your graphic, using about 65% of the graphic area.
- Selections, invert.
- Effects, Reflections, Patterns and use the following settings:-
Image Area
- Horizontal offset: -75 (minus)
- Vertical offset: 7
- Rotation angle: 236
- Scale factor: 48
Pattern Settings
- Number of columns: 14
- Number of rows: 4
- Horizontal shift: -19 (minus)
- Vertical shift: 46
- Deselect.
- Effects, Image Effects, Seamless tiling and use the following settings:-
- Corner checked
- Bidirectional checked
- Horizontal & Vertical offsets: 0
- Transition: 50
- Linear selected.
Lower the opacity to one suitable for text.
You can now save this image as your background.
