OVERLAPPER FRAME & BACKGROUND


      



This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely co-incidental. Please do not copy, translate or place on another site. You are more than welcome to use this tutorial in a group setting, but please link to this page only.

Tools needed to complete this tutorial:-

Paint Shop Pro Version 9

Andrews Filters 56

Andrews Filters 11

Due to plugin sites constantly changing, I no longer offering support for them. You will need to use a search engine to find any plugin that you might not have.

A graphic of your choice.

  1. Open your image of choice and resize so that it’s no longer than 350 pixels.

  2. Shift + D to duplicate the image twice, then close off the original.

  3. Minimize one of the copies for now.


    BACKGROUND


  4. Effects, Plugins, Andrews Filters 56, Blurred bits and pieces and use the following settings:-

    • Red x:      20
    • Red y:      14
    • Green x:      19
    • Green y:      12
    • Blue x:      10
    • Blue y:      21
    • X Shift:      138
    • Y Shift:      136

  5. Right click in your layer palette and duplicate the layer.

  6. Effects, Plugins, Andrews Filters 11, Corner Overlapper and use the following settings:-

    • Red 1 & 2:      7
    • Green 1:      22
    • Green 2:      25
    • Blue 1 & 2:      5
    • Intensity:      52

  7. Change the blend mode on this layer to soft light.

  8. Merge visible.

  9. Adjust, Blur, Radial Blur and use the following settings:-

    • Blur type:      Spin
    • Strength:      25
    • Elliptical:      Unchecked
    • Horizontal offset:      0
    • Vertical offset:      0
    • Protect center:      0

  10. Effects, Image effects, Seamless tiling and use the following settings:-

    • Corner checked
    • Bidirectional checked
    • Curved checked.

  11. Lower the opacity if needed.

  12. Merge all flatten and save as a jpeg.

  13. In your colour palette, change your foreground to pattern and using the dropdown menu search for the background image that we’ve just made.

  14. Minimize for now and maximize our 2nd copy of the graphic.


    FRAME


  15. Edit, Copy.

  16. Using your eye dropper, chose a dark colour from your graphic.

  17. Image, add border and add a 2 pixel black border or dark colour if black is on the outskirts of your image.

  18. Image, add border and add a 2 pixel white border.

  19. Select the border using your magic wand and flood fill with the background image we made earlier.

  20. Deselect.

  21. Image, add border, and add a 2 pixel border using a dark colour from your graphic.

  22. Select the border with your magic wand.

  23. Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel and use the following settings:-

    • Pie bevel
    • Width:      8
    • Smoothness:      5
    • Depth:      1
    • Ambience:      0
    • Shininess:      15
    • Color:      White
    • Angle:      257
    • Intensity:      45
    • Elevation;      32

  24. Deselect.

  25. Image, add border and add a 15 pixel white border.

  26. Select the border with your magic wand.

  27. Edit, paste into selection. Deselect.

  28. Image, add border and add a 2 pixel black border.

  29. Image, add border and add a 5 pixel white border.

  30. Select the border with your magic wand, and flood fill with the pattern than we made earlier.

  31. Image, add border, and add a 2 pixel border using a dark colour from your graphic.

  32. Select the border with your magic wand and apply the inner bevel that we used earlier.

  33. Image, add border and add a 2 pixel black border.

  34. Image, add border and add a 5 pixel white border.

  35. Select the border with your magic wand, and flood fill with the pattern than we made earlier.

  36. Image, add border, and add a 2 pixel border using a dark colour from your graphic.

  37. Select the border with your magic wand and apply the inner bevel that we used earlier.

  38. Image, add border, and add a 25 pixel white border.

  39. Select the border with your magic wand.

  40. Edits, paste into selection. Deselect.

  41. Image, add border and add a 2 pixel black border.

  42. Image, add border and add a 5 pixel white border.

  43. Select the border with your magic wand, and flood fill with the pattern than we made earlier.

  44. Image, add border, and add a 2 pixel border using a dark colour from your graphic.

  45. Select the border with your magic wand and apply the inner bevel that we used earlier

  46. Add a new layer for your watermark.

  47. Resize your graphic.

  48. Save as a jpeg.


    SIDE BARS


  49. Using your selection tool set to rectangle, select the two inner frames as shown here.

  50. Edit, Copy.

  51. Edit, paste as new image.

  52. You can now close our framed image off.

  53. Image, Canvas size and use the following settings:-

    • Width:      Double the width of your graphic.
    • Height:      Height of your graphic.
    • Placement:      Left middle arrow

  54. Right click in your layer palette and duplicate.

  55. Image, mirror.

  56. Merge all, flatten.

  57. Save as a jpeg and you are now ready to put it altogether in Letter Creator.
