MOSAIC & BLUR BORDERS




This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely co-incidental. Please do not pull it apart and claim it as your own. Tools needed to complete this tutorial:

Paint Shop Pro 9

No outside filters needed.

If you have everything you need, lets begin.

  1. Open your graphic. Shift + D to duplicate twice. Close the original and minimize one copy for now.

  2. Edit, copy.

    FRAME

  3. Image, add border and add a 10 pixel white border.

  4. Select the border with your magic wand.

  5. Edit, paste into selection.

  6. Adjust, Blur, Gaussian blur and use a setting of 25.

  7. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add noise and add a Gaussian noise of 10, monochrome checked.

  8. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the following settings:-

    • Vertical & Horizontal:      2
    • Opacity:      45
    • Blur:      5
    • Color:      Black

  9. Repeat the drop shadow changing your vertical & horizontal to –2. (minus).

  10. Deselect.

  11. Image, add border and add a 10 pixel white border.

  12. Select the border with your magic wand.

  13. Edit, paste into selection.

  14. Effects, Texture Effects, Mosaic – Antique and use the following settings:-

    • Number of columns and rows:      50
    • Symmetric:      Checked
    • Tile diffusion:      70
    • Grout width:      2
    • Grout diffusion:      50

  15. Effects, 3D effects, Drop shadow and use the two settings we used earlier.

  16. Deselect.

  17. Image, add border and add a 10 pixel white border.

  18. Select the border with your magic wand.

  19. Edit, paste into selection.

  20. Adjust, Blur, Gaussian blur and use a setting of 25.

  21. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add noise and add a Gaussian noise of 10, monochrome checked.

  22. Effects, 3D Effects, Inner bevel and use the following settings:-

    • Pie Bevel
    • Width:      8
    • Smoothness:      2
    • Depth:      2
    • Ambience:      0
    • Shininess:      5
    • Color:      White
    • Angle:      315
    • Intensity:      45
    • Elevation:      30

  23. Deselect.

  24. Image, add border and add a 25 pixel white border.

  25. Edit, paste into selection.

  26. Deselect.

  27. Image, add border and add a 10 pixel white border.

  28. Select the border with your magic wand.

  29. Edit, paste into selection.

  30. Adjust, Blur, Gaussian blur and use a setting of 25.

  31. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add noise and add a Gaussian noise of 10, monochrome checked.

  32. Repeat the 2 drop shadows used previously.

  33. Deselect.

  34. Image, add border and add a 10 pixel white border.

  35. Select the border with your magic wand.

  36. Edit, paste into selection.

  37. Effects, Texture Effects, Mosaic – Antique and use same settings as before.

  38. Effects, 3D effects, Drop shadow and use the two settings we used earlier.

  39. Deselect.

  40. Image, add border and add a 10 pixel white border.

  41. Select the border with your magic wand.

  42. Edit, paste into selection.

  43. Adjust, Blur, Gaussian blur and use a setting of 25.

  44. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add noise and add a Gaussian noise of 10, monochrome checked.

  45. Effects, 3D Effects, Inner bevel and use the same settings as before.

  46. Deselect.

  47. Add a new raster layer for your watermark. Merge all flatten.

  48. Resize if necessary.

  49. Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.

    BACKGROUND

  50. Open the 2nd copy of your graphic.

  51. Adjust, Blur Gaussian Blur and use the same settings we used earlier.

  52. Adjust, Add/Remove Noise and add the same noise as earlier.

  53. Effects, Texture Effects, Mosaic – Antique and use the same settings as before.

  54. Lower the opacity if needed.

  55. Effects, Image Effects, Seamless tiling and use the following settings:-

    • Mirror checked.
    • Bidirectional checked.

  56. You can now take this into letter creator.
