MOSAIC TOP BORDER STATIONERY

Graphic of your choice.

The photo used in this tutorial was from a group share. If it is yours, or you know the owner, please let me know so I can give proper credit or remove from the site.



If you have everything you need, lets begin.

  1. Open the graphic in PSP. Resize to a height no bigger than 350 pixels.

  2. Shift + D twice. Close the original and minimize one of the copies for now.

    BACKGROUND


  3. Effects, Art Media Effects, Brush strokes and use the following settings:-

    • Softness:    30
    • Bristles:    230
    • Width:    16
    • Opacity:    43
    • Length:    1
    • Density:    50
    • Angle:    259
    • Color:    #713535

  4. Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur and use a radius of 1.50.

  5. Effects, Distortion effects, Wave and use the following settings:-

    • Amplitude:    19
    • Wavelength:    26
    • Amplitude:    12
    • Wavelength:     41
    • Edge Mode:    Repeat

  6. Save as background, jpeg format and take it into 20/20

  7. Image, muted background. Make sure that Seamless tile is checked and lower the opacity. This will depend on the colours in your graphic. I lowered mine to 50%.

  8. File, save.

  9. Open this graphic again in PSP.

  10. Effects, plugins, FM Tile tools, Blend emboss and use the following settings:-

    • All default settings, but change Intensity to:    0.883

  11. Save and minimize for now.

    HEADER


  12. File, new, and open a 1024 x (height of your graphic), transparent image.

  13. With the graphic we haven't worked on yet, right click on the top blue border, and copy.

  14. Back to our transparent image, right click on the blue top border, paste as new layer.

  15. Using your mover tool, move the graphic over to the left hand side of the graphic.

  16. Right click again on the top blue border and again paste as new layer.

  17. Image, mirror and using your mover tool, move this graphic so that it lines up perfectly beside the first image.

    Note: Depending on the width of your graphic, you may need to paste again as a new layer until you have completely covered the transparent image.

  18. In your layer palette, right click and merge all, visible.

  19. Click on your selection tool, set to rectangle, and then on custom selection and use the following settings:-

    • Left    0
    • Top    50 pixels from the bottom so if you made your graphic 350 pixels in length, this will be set to 300.
    • Right:    1024
    • Bottom:    350 (or the total length of your graphic).

  20. Effects, plugins, Alien Skin, Xenofex 2, Classic Mosaic.

      Settings:    Loose Tiles

  21. Selections, select none.

  22. With your magic wand, tolerance and feather set to 0, click anywhere on the grey outline.

  23. Hit the delete key so you only have the mosaic tiles on a transparent background.

  24. Selections, select none.

  25. Using your magic wand again, same settings, hold down your shift key and click on each individual tile.

  26. Effects, 3D effects, inner bevel and use the following settings:-

    • Bevel:    Pie
    • Width:    8
    • Smoothness:    15
    • Depth:    2
    • Ambience:    0
    • Shininess:    15
    • Color:    White
    • Angle:    315
    • Intensity:    60
    • Elevation:    25

  27. Selections, select none.

  28. Effects, 3D Effects, drop shadow and apply the following settings:-

    • Vertical:    5
    • Horizontal:    0
    • Opacity:    55
    • Blur:    8
    • Color:    Black
    • Shadow on new layer:    UNchecked.

  29. Image, canvas size and use the following settings:-

    • Wdith:    1024
    • Height:    800
    • Placement:    Use the middle top arrow.
    • Background:    Null

  30. Add a new raster layer.

  31. In your color palette set your foreground to pattern and find the background pattern that we made earlier.

  32. Set the pattern to an angle of 0, and scale to 100.

  33. Flood fill this layer. Layers, arrange, send to bottom.

  34. Making sure the top layer is now active, add a new layer and add your watermark.

  35. Merge all, flatten.
