MOSAIC BACKGROUND

This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely co-incidental.
Please do not pull it apart and claim it as your own.

Tools needed to complete this tutorial:
Paint Shop Pro V8
A graphic of your choice.
I have very kindly been given permission to use the work of Johanna Pieterman for my tutorials.
A complimenting tube
20/20
If you have everything you need lets begin.
- Open your graphic of choice and resize to a length of no more than 350 pixels.
- Shift + D twice and close the original.
- Minimize on of the graphics for now.
- Effects, Texture Effects, Mosaic Glass and use the default settings.
- Effects, Image Effects, Seamless Tiling and use the following settings:-
- Corner Checked
- Bidirectional Checked
- Curved Checked.
- Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.
- Save as background and take into 20/20
- Image, muted background and set the slider to around 50%.
- Reopen in PSP. Adjust, sharpness, sharpen. Save and you can now close this background completely off.
- Working on the 2nd copy of our image.
FIRST FRAME
- Using your eye dropper chose a light color for your foreground and a dark complimenting color for your background.
- In your color palette, change your background to gradient and set it to linear, angle 90, repeats 100.
- Image, add border and add a 3 pixel border using your background color. Select the border with your magic wand. If the color is the same as an outside color in your graphic, go to selections, select all, selections, modify and contract by 3. Selections invert.
- Effects, 3D Effects, drop shadow and use the following settings:-
- Vertical & Horizontal: 6
- Opacity: 100
- Blur: 15
- Color: Black.
- Repeat the drop shadow changing the V&H to – 6 (minus).
- Effects, 3D Effects, inner bevel and use the frame preset. Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 3 pixel border using your foreground color.
- Select the border with your magic wand and repeat the 2 drop shadows and the inner bevel. Deselect.
- Image, Add border and add a 25 pixel white border.
- Flood fill with the gradient. Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 3 pixel border using your background color.
- Click on the border with your magic wand. It should select all the darker lines of the gradient also.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Inner bevel and use the same settings as before. Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 3 pixel border using your foreground color.
- Select the border with your magic wand.
- Repeat the 2 drops shadows used previously and the inner bevel. Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 25 pixel white border. Select the border with your magic wand.
- In your color palette, change your gradient to 0 angle and flood fill the white border. Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 3 pixel border using your background color.
- Select the border with your magic wand. Again it should also select all the darker color of the gradient.
- Effects, 3D Effects, inner bevel and use the same settings as before. Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 3 pixel border using your foreground color.
- Select this border with your magic wand and apply the same drop shadows and inner bevel as used previously. Deselect.
- In your layer palette, right click on the background and promote to layer.
- Image, Canvas size and add 100 pixels to both length and width with the placement center.
- Open your tube of choice and edit copy. You can now close your tube off.
- Back to our framed image, edit, paste as new layer. Resize to a size you liking and using your mover tool, place the top in the bottom left corner of your framed image, overlapping into the transparent area.
- Add a new layer for your watermark.
- Merge visible.
SECOND FRAME
- Add a new layer and flood fill with your foreground color.
- Layers, arrange, send to bottom.
- Merge all, flatten.
- Image, add border and add a 3 pixel border using your foreground color.
- Selections, select all.
- Selections, modify, contract by 3.
- Effects 3D Effects, cutout and use the following settings:-
- Vertical & Horizontal: 0
- Opacity: 45
- Blur: 10
- Shadow color: Black
- Fill interior with color: Unchecked
- Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 3 pixel border using your foreground color.
- Selections, select all.
- Selections, modify, contract by 3.
- Effects 3D Effects, cutout and use the same settings as before.
- Deselect.
- Repeat steps 48 to 52 three (3) more times.
- Repeat steps 48 to 51.
- Selections, invert.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Inner bevel and use the same settings as before.
You can now put it all together in IncrediMail.
