This tutorial is written for Paint Shop Pro X, however, you should be able to do it with any version, however, you may find that some of the tools and effects are listed under different headings.
A graphic of your choice. The graphic used for this tutorial is used with the written permission of the very talented artist
Frame
Open your graphic and resize if necessary.
Windows, duplicate and minimize the duplicated image for now.
Using your eye dropper chose a complimentary colour for your background colour.
Effects, Plugin, Andrews 25, Lots of Ripple on the Surface and use the following settings:-
Corner 1: 10
Corner 2: 100
Corner 3: 30
Corner 4: 130
Value: 125
Mix 1: 74
Mix 2: 217
Maximize the copy of your image.
Selections, select all.
Selections, modify, contract and contract by 20.
Selections, modify, feather and use a setting of 20.
Edit, copy
Back to the image we were first working on, edit, paste as new layer.
Image, Resize and resize by 85%, making sure All Layers is UNchecked.
Back to the graphic that we feathered.
Selections, select none and minimize again.
Back to our original graphic and add a 4 pixel border using your background colour.
Select the border with your magic wand.
Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel and use the following setting:-
Pie Bevel
Width: 17
Smoothness: 10
Depth: 11
Ambience: 8
Shininess: 38
Colour: White
Angle: 315
Intensity: 28
Elevation: 51
Deselect.
Image, Add Border and add a 25 pixel white border.
Select the border with your magic wand.
In your Colour Palette, set the foreground to pattern and using the drop down menu, chose the graphic that is minimized with a scale of 100 and angle of 0.
Flood fill the white border.
Effects, 3D Effects and use the following settings:-
Pie Bevel
Width: 8
Smoothness: 27
Depth: 3
Ambience: 0
Shininess: 31
Colour: White
Intensity: 50
Elevation: 30
Deselect.
Image, Add Border and add a 30 pixel white border.
Select the border with your magic wand.
In your colour palette, change the pattern setting to show a scale of 50 and an angle of 45.
Effects, Distortion Effects, Ripple and use the following settings:-
Horizontal & Vertical: 50
Amplitude: 18
Wavelength: 12
Transparent checked.
Deselect.
Image, Add Border and add a 2 pixel border using your background colour.
Select the border with your magic wand and repeat the inner bevel from step 16.
Effects. 3D Effects, Drop Shadow and use the following settings:-
Vertical & Horizontal: 3
Opacity: 55
Blur: 10
Shadow on new layer: UNchecked
Add a new layer for you watermark.
Merge all, flatten and resize if using in Stationery or for a tag.
Background
Maximize the copy of your graphic.
Effects, Distortion Effects, Ripple and use the same settings as before, but make sure that Repeat is checked.
Lower the opacity to around 35% and merge all flatten.
Effects, Image Effects, Seamless Tiling and use the following settings:-
Corner checked.
Vertical checked.
Vertical Offset: 0
Transition: 25
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian blur, and use a setting of around 15.
Effects, Sharpness, Sharpen.
You can now save this as your background to be used if you want to make stationery from this tutorial.
