Tools needed to complete this tutorial:-

Paint Shop Pro V9

A tube of your choice.
The tube I have used for this tutorial is used with permission from Pat Jaffarian of H_L Designs.


If you have everything you need, let's begin.

  1. Open your tube in PSP.

  2. Using your eye dropper, select a light colour for your foreground and a dark colour for your background.

  3. In your colour palette, set your foreground to gradient and use the Foreground-background gradient, angle 90, repeat 1.

    Note: If you prefer your lines to be vertical, have angle set to 0.

  4. Set your tube to be no sider than 350 pixels.

  5. Image, resize and resize the tube by 85%, all layers UNchecked.

  6. Image, duplicate.

  7. Make the bottom layer the active layer by clicking on it in your layer palette.

  8. Effects, Texture Effects, Texture, Mosaic - Glass and use the following settings:-

    • Number of columns & rows:      50
    • Glass Curvature:      50
    • Edge Curvature:      0
    • Grout Width:      2
    • Grout Diffusion:      50

  9. Make the top layer active.

  10. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow and use the following settings:-

    • Vertical:      1
    • Horizontal:      4
    • Opacity:      45
    • Blur:      5
    • Color:      Black
    • Shadow on new layer:      UNchecked

  11. Merge visible.

  12. Image, Canvas size and use the following settings:-

    • Width:      1024
    • Height:      Total length of your graphic.
    • Placement:      Left Middle Arrow.

  13. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with your gradient.

  14. Layers, arrange, send to bottom.

  15. Effects, Texture Effects, Texture and chose a texture of your choice.

  16. Effects, Artistic Effects, Topography and use the following settings:-

    • Width:      20
    • Density:      8
    • Angle:      45
    • Color:      White

  17. Effects, Image effects, Seamless tiling and the following settings:-

    • Mirror checked.
    • Bidirectional checked.
    • Width:      50

  18. Add a new raster layer. Layers, arrange, bring to top.

  19. Add your watermark, then merge all, flatten.
