Tools needed to complete this tutorial:-

Paint Shop Pro.

Simple Filters.

Visual Manipulation.
Hundreds of filters here. VM filters are near the bottom of the page.

Super Blade Pro.

Super Blade Preset Satin Gold
Save to your environments and texture folder.

The font I used
Save to your desktop, and have open for PSP to recognize it.

If you have everything you need, lets get started.
This is a reasonably long tutorial. So make grab yourself a cuppa and make yourself comfortable.

Background

  1. Open your graphic in PSP and resize to no larger than 350 pixels on the longest side.

  2. Hit Shift + D twice to duplicate your image twice and close the original down.
    We won't be needing it again.

  3. If needed, Adjust, Sharpeness, Sharpen.

  4. For now minimize one of the copies.

  5. Effects, Plugins, Simple, Centre tile.

  6. Effects, Plugins, Simple, 4 Way Average.

  7. Effects, Plugins, VM Toolbox, Soft Border with the following settings:-

    Transition    84
    Red, Green, Blue and Transparentcy    255
    Padding    4

  8. Click on apply.

  9. It should be all merged, but just in case it's not,
    right click in the layer palette, merge, merge all (flatten).

  10. File, save as, make this a jpeg and save it as background.

    Framed Graphic

    1. Maximize the graphic that we minimized at the start of the tutorial.

    2. Image, add border and add a 10 pixel symmetrical border, white in colour
      You may need to chose another light colour if you have white in the graphic.

    3. Select this border with your magic wand.

    4. Effects, Plugsin, Flaming Pear, SuperBladePro and use the Satin Gold preset.

    5. While still selected, go to Effects, 3D effects, drop shadow and use the following
      settings:-

      Vertical and Horizontal    2
      Opacity    45
      Blur    12

    6. Repeat the drop shadow changing your vertical and horizontal
      to minus 2

    7. Selections, select none.

    8. Image, add border and this time add a 30 pixel symmetrical border again in white
      or the light colour you used before.

    9. Select this border with your magic wand.

    10. Using your dropper tool, chose a light colour from your graphic, and flood fill the
      selected border.

    11. Effects, Plugins, Texturizer and use the following settings:-

      Texture    Sandstone
      Scaling    50%
      Relief    2
      Light Direction    Bot. Right
      Invert    UNchecked.

    12. Click on ok. Selections, select none.

    13. Image, add border, and add a 10 pixel white, or light coloured border.

    14. Select the border with your magic wand.

    15. Effects, plugins, Flaming Pear, SuperBladePro and use the same settings as before.

    16. While still selected, go to Effects, 3D effects, drop shadow and use the same
      settings as before.

    17. Selections, select none.

    18. Layers, new raster layer.

    19. Change your foreground colour to white and your background to null.
      Click on your text tool with the following settings:-

      Create as    Floating
      Font:    Dizzinz Corners
      Size    I used 72
      Stroke width    1.0
      Anti-alias    Checked

    20. Click anywhere on the graphic. The text dialogue box will open.
      I used the capital I, but play around until you find something you like.

    21. Using your mover tool, move the corner into the right hand corner of the inner gold frame.

    22. Selections, defloat.

    23. Effects, Plugins, Flaming Pear, SuperBladePro and use the same settings previously used.

    24. Selections, select none.

    25. Layers, duplicate, image mirror.

    26. Layers, duplicate, image flip.

    27. Layers, duplicate, image mirror.

    28. Close off all layers except the 4 corners we've just made, by clicking on the eyes beside
      the layers in the layer palette.

    29. With the 4 corner layers only visible, right click on on of these and merge visible.

    30. Right click on any layer, view, all.

    31. Adjust, Sharpness, sharpen. Edit, repeat sharpen.

    32. Layers, new raster layer and again using your text tool with same settings
      as before, add another corner. This time take it up to the top gold frame.

    33. Repeat steps 23 through to 30

    34. Merge all, Flatten.

    You can now take this into Letter Creator.
