GLASSWEAVE FRAME & BACKGROUND

Tools needed to complete this tutorial:

Paint Shop Pro V8

Eye Candy 4000

20/20

An image of your choice.
I do not know who the artist is for the graphic I have used. If it is yours and copyrighted, please let me know so I can either give credit or remove it from the page.

If you have everything you need, lets start.

  1. Open image of choice. Resize if necessary.

  2. Shift + D twice to make two copies. Close the original in case you want to use it again. Minimize one copy to make the background with a bit later.

    FRAME

  3. Pick a light colour from your graphic for the foreground.

  4. Pick a dark colour from your graphic for the background.

  5. In your colour palette, change the foreground to gradient and pick the foreground/background gradient set to angle 90, repeats 100.

  6. Duplicate the background layer.

  7. Image, resize 90%, all layers UNchecked.

  8. Rename this layer, layer 2 and duplicate it.

  9. Image, resize 90%, all layers UNchecked.

  10. Rename this layer, layer 3.

  11. Click on layer 2 to make it the active layer.

  12. Effects, texture effects, Blinds and use the following settings:-

    • Width:    4
    • Opacity:     72
    • Color:    Background colour
    • Horizontal:    UNchecked
    • Light from left/top:    Checked

  13. Effects, 3D effects, inner bevel and use the following settings:-

    • Bevel:    Pie
    • Width:    8
    • Smoothness:    2
    • Depth:    10
    • Ambience:    0
    • Shininess:    10
    • Color:    White
    • Angle:    288
    • Intensity:    55
    • Elevation:    25

  14. Make layer 3 the active layer.

  15. Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000, Glass and use the clear glass preset.

  16. Merge all, flatten.

  17. Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using the background colour.

  18. Image, add border and add a 2 pixel border using the foreground colour.

  19. Repeat the above 2 steps 2 more times.

  20. Selections, select all, selections, modify, contract by 12. Selections, invert.

  21. Effects, plugins, Eye Candy 4000 and use the same settings as before.

  22. Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.

  23. Selections, select none.

  24. Add a new layer and apply your watermark.

  25. Merge all, flatten. Save as a jpeg.

    BACKGROUND

  26. Open the graphic that we had minimized at the beginning of the tutorial.

  27. Effects, texture effects, blinds and use the same settings as before.

  28. Effects, texture effects, blinds and this time check the horizontal box and use the background colour.

  29. Duplicate the layer.

  30. Go back to the original layer.

  31. Effects, plugins, Eye Candy 4000, Glass and use the same settings as before.

    (You won't see any difference just yet)

  32. Highlight the duplicated layer. Image, resize by 75%.

  33. Effects, plugins, Eye Candy 4000, Glass and again use the same settings as before.

  34. Merge all, flatten.

  35. Effects, texture effect, Weave and use the following settings:-

    • Gap size:     15
    • Width:    45
    • Opacity:     50
    • Weave colour:    Black
    • Gap colour:    Background colour
    • Fill gaps:     Checked

  36. New layer, and flood fill with the gradient.

  37. Lower the opacity on this layer to around the 60%.

  38. Merge all, flatten.

  39. Save as a jpeg and take into 20/20

  40. Image, seamless tile. If you need it a bit lighter, go to Image, muted background and make sure seamless tile is checked.

  41. File, save.

    You can now put it altogether in letter creator.
