This tutorial was written using PSP 8. You can download a demo version from Jasc

A graphic of your choice.

Filter Factory B

The mask I used

FM Tile tools.
Scroll down until you see the demo download.
They also have a plugin called Paint Engine which is free. Grab that while
you are there :)

*Note: I don't know if the seamless tile is one of the 7 usable plugins in the demo.
If not, contact me and I will see what I can do.

If you have everything you need, lets get started.

  1. Open your graphic in PSP and resize to no larger than 350 pixels in length.

  2. Shift + D twice, close the original, minimize one of the copies.

    BACKGROUND

  3. Effects, plugins, Filter Factory B, Vibes with the vibrations set to 6.

  4. Effects, plugins, Filter Factory B, Seismic Twirl and use the following settings:-

    • Longitudinal:     53
    • Transverse:     90
    • Divisions:     83

  5. Effects, plugins, Filter Factory B, Zero Tolerance and use the following settings:-

    • Zoom In/Out:     50
    • Spokes:     92
    • Rotation:     59
    • Shading Amount:     39

  6. Edit, Repeat Zero Tolerance.

  7. New layer.

  8. Flood fill with white. Lower the opacity of this layer to around 35%
    and set your blend mode to Lighten.

  9. Merge all, Flatten.

  10. Effects, Plugins, Filter Factory B, Fluttering Flag and use the following settings:-

    • Horizontal Frequency:     181
    • Horizontal Scale:     255
    • Vertical Frequency:     136
    • Veritcal Scale:     178
    • Shading Offset:     28
    • Shading Amount:     50

  11. Effects, Plugins, Virtual Painter, Pastel and use the following settings:-

    • Size:     Name Card
    • Material:     Subtle
    • Rendering:     Intense
    • Colors:     Intense
    • Deformation:     Intense
    • Focus:     Subtle

  12. You can now save this as a JPEG and name it background. Minimize this graphic for now,
    and maximize the other one.
