ELECTRIC BACKGROUND
This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely co-incidental. Please do not copy, translate or place on any other site. You are more than welcome to use this tutorial in a group setting, but please link to this page only.
Tools needed to complete this tutorial:
Paint Shop Pro X
A tube of your choice.
The tube used in this tutorial was from a group share. If it's yours and you would like credit, please let me know. If you are the original artist and would like credit given, or the graphic to be removed, also, please let me know.
FM Tile Tools Optional
Ok, if you have everything you need, let's begin.
Open a 350 x 350 transparent image.
Open your tube and resize if necessary. You want the tube to be no bigger than 300 x 300.
Edit, copy.
Edit, paste as a new layer onto the transparent image.
In your layer palette, duplicate the tube.
Highlight the bottom layer.
Effects, Texture Effects, Mosaic – Glass and use the following settings:-
Number of columns & rows: 25
Symmetric: Unchecked
Glass curvature: 15
Edge curvature: 7
Grout width: 1
Grout diffusion: 15
Using your mover tool, move this upwards until you see lots of colour.
Click on your selection tool, and draw a selection around some of the mosaic that doesn’t have a great deal of colour in it.
Selections, invert and hit the delete key to remove it.
Effects, 3D effects, Inner bevel and use the following settings:-
Pie bevel
Width: 8
Smoothness: 0
Depth: 2
Ambience: 0
Shininess: 0
Colour: White
Angle: 315
Intensity: 50
Elevation: 30
Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the following settings:-
Vertical & Horizontal: 1
Opacity: 35
Blur: 1
Colour: Black
Shadow on new layer: Unchecked.
Highlight the top layer.
Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the same settings as above, but change the horizontal to 4 and blur to 10.
Merge visible.
Image, Canvas size and use the following settings:-
Width: 1250
Height: 350
Placement: Left middle arrow
In your layer palette, right click and duplicate the layer.
Using your mover tool, move the duplicated image to roughly half way along the transparency.
Click on your warp brush and use the following settings:-
Warp Mode: Push
Size: 100
Hardness: 0
Strength: 100
Holding your left mouse button down, drag out three or four strands both to the left and right.
When you are satisfied with the warp, click on the tick to accept it.
Add a new raster layer and drag it to the bottom of your layer palette.
Using the eye dropper, chose a nice dark colour from your graphic and flood fill the background layer.
Highlight the copy of merged layer (should be the top layer) and lower the opacity to around 30 %.
Add a new layer for your watermark.
Merge all flatten.
Optional:
Effects, Plugins, FM Tile Tools, Seamless tile and use the following settings:-
Border Width: 0.113
Stretch Control: 0.078
Vertical: Checked.
You can now take it into Letter creator.
