COLOURED EMBOSS BACKGROUND
This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely co-incidental. Please do not copy, translate or place on another site. You are more than welcome to use this tutorial in a group setting, but please link to the page only.
Tools needed to complete this tutorial:-
PSP 9
A tube of your choice.
The tube I have used for this tutorial was from a group share. If you know the artist, please let me know so I can give proper credit.
No outside filters were used.

If you have everything you need, let's begin.
- Open your tube of choice and shift + D to duplicate it. Close the original.
- Resize the tube if needed.
- Image, Canvas size and use the following settings:-
- Width: 1024
- Length: Total length of your tube
- Placement: Left middle arrow
- Using your eye dropper choose two complimenting colours for your foreground and background.
- In your colour palette change your foreground to gradient and using your dropdown list choose the foreground/background gradient set to 0 angle and 1 repeat.
- Right click in your layer palette and duplicate your tube.
- Right click in your layer palette and duplicate your tube again.
- Using your mover tool, move the duplicates over so that they are spaced evenly over the transparent 1024 image.
- Close layer 1 and making sure that one of the top two layers is active, right click and merge visible.
- Effects, Image Effects, Seamless Tiling and use the following settings:-
- Corner checked
- Bidirectional checked
- Curved checked.
- You can now open all layers.
- Add a new layer and flood fill with your gradient.
- Layers, arrange, send to bottom.
- Lower the opacity of your bottom layer to around the 75% mark.
- Highlight your top layer.
- Effects, Texture Effects, Emboss.
- Lower the opacity of the merged layer to 14%.
- Highlight your middle layer.
- Effects, 3D Effects, drop shadow and use the following settings:-
- Vertical: 0
- Horizontal: 12
- Opacity: 45
- Blur: 15
- Color: Black
- Shadow on new layer: Unchecked.
- Repeat the drop shadow changing the Horizontal to –12 (minus).
- Merge all, flatten.
- Click on your selection tool, and then on custom selection.
- Use the following settings:-
- Top and Left: 0
- Right: 350
(If your tube was larger than this, change the setting to suit it).
- Bottom: Total length of your graphic.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow and use the same settings as before but change the Horizontal to 8.
- Click on custom selection again, and change your Right figure to 340 (or 10 less than your original).
- Repeat the drop shadow.
- Click on custom selection again, and change your Right figure to 325 (or 15 less than your original).
- Repeat the drop shadow.
- Deselect.
- Selections, select all.
- Selections, modify, contract by 5.
- Image, crop to selection.
- Add a new layer for your watermark.
- Merge all flatten.
