Tools needed to complete this tutorial:-

Kiwi Filters

A tube of your choice.
The tube I have used for this tutorial (in the top left corner) was tubed by Pat Jafarian and is used with permission.

Ok, if you have everything you need, let’s begin.

  1. Open your tube in PSP. Shift + D twice to duplicate and close the original.
    Minimize one copy for now.

  2. Using your eye dropper chose two nice complimenting colours from it for your foreground
    and background.

  3. Open a 300 x 300 transparent image.

  4. View, rulers.

  5. Click on your selection tool, rectangle, custom selection and use the following settings:-

    • Top:      0
    • Left:      0
    • Right:      150
    • Bottom:      300

  6. Flood fill with your foreground colour.

  7. Selections, invert and flood fill with your background colour.

  8. Selections, select none. Minimize for now.

  9. On your tube graphic, again, using your selection tool, custom selection, chose your halfway point.

  10. For my tube the total size was 374 x 387 so my settings were:-

    • Top & Left:      0
    • Right:      187 (which is half the length)
    • Bottom:      387 (full length)
  11. Effects, Plugins, Kiwi, Leinwand and use the following settings:-

    • Leinwandstruktur:       22
    • Leinwand < --/ -- >:      128
    • Leinwand auf/ab:      128

  12. Selections, invert to chose the opposite side of your graphic.

  13. Effects, Plugins, Kiwi, Videowand and use the following settings:-

    • Anzahl Bildschirme:      28
    • Jalousie v. aus/ein:       0
    • Jalousie h. aus/ein:      0

  14. Deselect.

  15. In your colour palette, change your foreground to pattern and in your drop down list chose the
    graphic we made with our two colours.

  16. Back to our patterned tube, add a new layer.

  17. Flood fill with the two colour pattern.

  18. Lower the opacity of this level to 50%.

  19. Merge all, flatten.

  20. Effects, Image effects, Seamless Tiling and use the following settings:-

    • Corner checked.
    • Bidirectional checked.
    • Transition checked.
    • Linear checked.

  21. Save as a jpeg as your background and open in 20/20.

  22. Image, muted background and lower the opacity to around 50% depending on the darkness
    of your colours. Save and repopen in PSP.

  23. Minimize for now.

  24. Maximize the 2nd copy of our tube.

  25. Image, resize and resize by 85%, all layers Unchecked.

  26. Image, canvas size and use the following settings:-

    • Width:      1024
    • Length:      Total length of your graphic
    • Placement:      Left middle arrow.

  27. Add a new layer.

  28. In your colour palette, change pattern to the pattern that we took to 20/20 with the
    following settings:-

    • Angle:      45
    • Scale:      100

  29. Flood fill the new layer with the pattern.

  30. Layers, arrange, send to bottom.

  31. Effects, Image Effects, Seamless tiling and use the same settings as before.

  32. Make sure your top layer is the active layer.

  33. Effects, 3D Effects, Inner bevel and apply the following:-

    • Pie Bevel
    • Width:      8
    • Smoothness:      50
    • Depth:      2
    • Ambience:      0
    • Shininess:      40
    • Color:      White
    • Angle:      261
    • Intensity:      60
    • Elevation;      25

  34. Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and apply the following:-

    • Vertical:       4
    • Horizontal:      15
    • Opacity:       45
    • Blur:      12
    • Color:      Black
    • Shadow on new layer:      Unchecked

  35. Repeat the drop shadow but change your horizontal to –15 (minus).

  36. Add a new layer for your watermark.

  37. Merge all flatten and you can now take it into Letter Creator.
