Tools needed to complete this tutorial:-
Paint Shop Pro
I've used Version 8, but this can be done with Version 7.
No outside filters are needed.
Tube of your choice.
If you have everything you need, lets get started.
- With your dropper tool, chose two complimenting
colours from your tube. Minimize for now.
- Set your foreground to gradient and chose the foreground/background
gradient. Angle 90, repeats 100
- Open a 400 x 400 transparent image.
- View, rulers.
- Click on your preset shapes tool, rectangle, and set your line width to 5 set your background to null.
- starting at 50,50 drag out a rectangle to 250,350.
- Effects, 3D effects, inner bevel and use the angle preset.
- Add a new raster layer.
- Again, using your preset shape same settings as before, draw out another
rectangle starting at 100,200 and dragging out to 350,330.
- Effects, 3D effects, inner bevel and use the same settings as before.
- Add a new raster layer.
- Draw out another rectangle, starting at 120,20 and drag it out to 380,280.
- Repeat the inner bevel.
- Maximize the tube, edit copy. You can now close the tube. We won't be using it again.
- Go back to our 400 x 400 image, edit paste as new layer, resize if needed.
- With your mover tool position close to the box on the left. See my graphic for
the positioning.
- In your colour palette change your foreground to a colour that you would like the text to be and keep the background null.
- Click on the text tool. Set it to vector, use a fairly thick font, set the size to 48, stroke width 1.0, antialias checked.
- Type the first initial of your name or the word.
- Using your mover tool, move it so it is touching the right side of first rectangle that we made.
- Click with your text tool again and put the next initial in.......keep doing this until you
have finished the name.
- Once you are happy with the placement, right click on the vector layer and convert to raster layer.
Note: Because we have set the font to vector, a new layer is not necessary for each letter, if you are not happy with how they line up, click on the + sign beside the vector layer to open it and you will see all the letters there.
To move any of them, just click on the letter.
- In your layer palette, click on raster 2, image, rotate, free rotate and rotate 35 degrees to the right.
- You may need to move it over a little with your mover tool.
- Make raster 3 the active layer and also rotate this one 35 degrees to the right.
- Again, you may need need to move it over a little with your mover tool.
- In your layer palette, right click on any layer, and view, none.
- Now open raster one by clicking on the eye and make sure this is the active layer.
- Using your magic wand, feather and tolerance set to 0, click inside the rectangle. Selections, modify, expand by 2.
- Add a new raster layer.
- In your colour palette, set your foreground colour to gradient. Chose the same gradient as before with the same settings.
- Flood fill.
- Layers, Arrange, send to bottom.
- Deselect.
- Making sure the bottom layer is still the active layer, merge all, visible.
- Right click on any layer, view, all.
- Arrange your layers so they are like this, from top to bottom:
raster 5
raster 4
Merged
raster 3
raster 2
- Highlight the top layer, raster 5, effects, 3D effects, drop shadow and apply the following settings;
- Vertical: 0
- Horizontal: 2
- Opacity: 75
- Blur: 2.0
- Colour: Black
- Shadow on new layer: UNchecked.
- Highlight the next layer down, raster 4, effects, 3D effects, drop shadow and apply the same settings, but change the blur to 5.
- Click down through all the layers and add the same drop shadow.
- If you want to add your watermark, add a new layer and do so.
- Merge visible.
- Edit, copy. Edit, paste as new image to get rid of any unwanted transparency around the image.
- Image, resize. I resize so that my tag is no larger than 300 on the longest side, but thats a personal preference.
- You can now merge all, flatten.
Thanks for doing my tutorial. I hope you have enjoyed it.
