BINDED FRAME

This tutorial is my own creation. Any resemblance to another is purely co-incidental. Please do not copy, translate or place on another site. You are more than welcome to use this tutorial in a group setting, but please link to this page only.
Tools needed to complete this tutorial:-
Paint Shop Pro V8
A graphic of your choice.
The graphic I have used is used with permission from Amanda Penrose who has very kindly allowed me to use her wonderful artwork in my tutorials and stationery.
Ok, if you have everything you need, let's begin.
- Open your graphic and resize if necessary. Shift + D twice and close the original. Minimize one of the copies for now.
BACKGROUND
- Image, Greyscale.
- Image, Increase color depth, 16 million.
- Effects, Art Media Effects, Brush Strokes and use the following settings:-
- Softness: 45
- Bristles: 241
- Width: 8
- Opacity: 53
- Length: 2
- Density: 85
- Angle: 259
- Color: White
- Right click in your layer palette and promote background layer.
- Effects, Image Effects, Seamless tiling and use the following settings:-
- Corner checked.
- Bidirectional checked.
- Linear checked.
- Transition: 85%
- Lower the opacity to around 50% (depending on the colours in your graphic).
- Make a note of your foreground colors hue and satuation.
- Adjust, Hue and Saturation. Colorize using the hue and satuation from above.
- Merge all, flatten.
- You can now minimize the background.
- Maximize the 2nd copy of your graphic.
FRAME
- Using your eye dropper tool chose a light foreground color and a dark background colour from your graphic.
- Image, add border and add a 5 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Select the border with your magic wand.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow and use the following settings:-
- Vertical & Horizontal: 10
- Opacity: 50
- Blur: 15
- Shadow color: Black
- Fill interior with color: Unchecked.
- Repeat the drop shadow changing the vertical & horizontal to –10 (minus).
- Effects, 3D Effects, Inner bevel and use the following settings:-
- Pie Bevel
- Width: 8
- Smoothness: 2
- Depth: 1
- Ambience: 0
- Shininess: 50
- Color: White
- Angle: 315
- Intensity: 43
- Elevation; 30
- Selections, invert.
- Effects, 3D effects, Inner bevel and use the same settings.
- Deselect.
- Image, add border and add a 5 pixel border using your background colour.
- Select the border with your magic wand and apply the same inner bevel as before.
- Deselect.
- Image, add border and add the following white border:
- Symmetric Unchecked.
- Top and Bottom: 15
- Left and Right: 35
- Select the border with your magic wand.
- In your color palette, change your foreground to pattern, and using your drop down list find the background pattern that we made earlier.
- Flood fill your white border.
- Deselect.
- Image, add border, select Symmetric and add a 5 pixel border using your foreground color.
- Image, add border and add a 5 pixel border using your background colour.
- Image, add border and add a 5 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Selections, select all.
- Selections, modify, contract by 15.
- Selections, invert.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the drop shadow we used previously, remembering to repeat with the negative.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Inner bevel and use the same settings as before.
- Image, Add border and add a 5 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Select the border with your magic wand.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Inner bevel and use the same settings as before.
- Image, add border. Uncheck symmetrical and use the following settings:-
- Color: Foreground color.
- Top & Bottom: 5
- Left & Right: 0
- Using your magic wand, hold down your shift key, and select the top and bottom border and flood fill with your background pattern.
- Selections, promote selection to layer.
- Image, Rotate, free rotate and rotate 20 degrees to the left, all layers Uncheck.
- Keep selected.
- Selections, defloat.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Outer Bevel and use the metallic preset.
- Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V to copy our lines. Minimize this copy for now.
- Deselect.
- Merge all, flatten.
- Image, add border, check symmetrical, and add a 5 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Image, add border and add a 5 pixel border using your background color.
- Image, add border and add a 5 pixel border using your foreground colour.
- Selections, select all.
- Selections, modify, contract by 15.
- Selections, invert.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the same settings as before.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Inner bevel and use the same settings as before.
- Deselect.
- With the copy of the lines that we made, edit copy.
- Back to our framed image, edit, paste as new layer. Using your mover tool move the lines where you would like them.
- Effects, 3D Effects, Drop shadow and use the following settings:-
- Vertical: 0
- Horizontal: -35 (minus)
- Opacity: 50
- Blur: 10
- Color: Black
- Shadow on new layer: Unchecked.
- Add a new layer for your watermark.
- Merge all flatten.
